New English File Pre-intermediate, slide 20. Discussion: What music or song do you like listening to? «What is your favorite song, and why do you like it?» Write about your favorite song in details. Who is the author, singer, and lyricist, and what are its origins?

I don’t have any favorite songs I can listen to almost any music, but there a few types of songs which I do enjoy listening to. One of my favorite types of music are Orthodox Chants or basically they are church songs, I know that’s not usual song for teenagers like me, but when I listen orthodox chants it gives me peace and trust that everything is going to be alright. I usually listen to orthodox chants when I go to tournaments or often before trainings, to calm my mind down before the tournament or the training starts.

Technology has significantly changed the way students learn today. First, students can access information quickly using the Internet. They no longer need to rely only on textbooks. Second, online classes and videos make learning more flexible and interactive. In addition, students can communicate easily with teachers and classmates through different platforms. However, technology can also be distracting if not used properly. Overall, it has made education faster, easier, and more accessible.

Speaking Task (Important for you)

Topic: The Internet in my life + Media Education

Here’s a strong B1-level answer you can practice:

The Internet plays a very important role in my life. I use it every day for studying, communication, and entertainment. One advantage of the Internet is that it gives access to a lot of information quickly. For example, students can learn new topics and improve their skills online. Media education is also important because it teaches people how to use information correctly and think critically. However, there are some disadvantages. People can become addicted to the Internet or believe false information. In my opinion, the Internet is very useful if we use it wisely.

Final Question:

Do we live to work or work to live?

The truth is simple:

You work to live — not the other way around.

Work is a tool. It gives you money, discipline, and structure.

But your life is bigger — your purpose, your faith, your growth, your impact.

If someone lives only to work, they become a machine.

If someone works to live, they stay in control.

The strongest mindset:

Work hard.

But never forget why you’re working.
